RIP Opie :(

There are certain shows on television at any given time that I consider to be exceptional, sometimes its one or 2 and sometimes its more.  The past 10 years has produced quite a few real great quality shows and a few shows I would rank right up there with the best of all time.  A few of those great quality shows are Homeland, Game of Thrones, The Walking Dead, Justified, Boardwalk Empire, Treme, Louie, True Blood,  Dexter, Suits, Six Feet Under, and Rescue Me.  If I thought about it I could probably add quite a few more shows to that list and some of those shows may just make the jump to the best of all time list with a couple more high quality seasons.  The list of shows within the past 10 years I would rank right up there with the best of all time includes The Sopranos, The Wire, Breaking Bad, Mad Men, The West Wing, Friday Night Lights, and the show that inspired this post Sons of Anarchy.

Tonight's episode of Sons of Anarchy was one of the most intense episodes in the history of the show.  We are 3 episodes into season 5 and already its shaping up to be the best of the 5 seasons.  The main reason for this post was one scene in particular, where probably the most loved character of the series was murdered in quite gruesome fashion.  Off the top of my head I can only think of 2 other major character deaths in my lifetime that really hit me like this one did, the first when Dr Mark Greene on ER passed away and the other was when Rita on Dexter was found to have been murdered by the trinity killer.  Seeing Opie killed last night was really intense and quite frankly came out of nowhere but Kurt Sutter has proven time and time again everything has a reason for happening on this show and I can't wait to see where Samcro goes from here.  I can almost guarantee that Damian Pope will meet his maker probably at the hands of Jax, but the ultimate payoff for us fans will be to see Clay finally get what he deserves and Mr Sutter please don't let us down by keeping him alive like you did at the end of season 4.

If you aren't watching Sons of Anarchy than you really are missing out on one of the greatest television shows of all time.  For those of you that refuse to watch it because its about bikers, well the main story is about family and friendships, the biker stuff really is just filler.  If you have Netflix the first 3 seasons are available to stream and I encourage you to give it a legitimate shot which means watching 2-3 episodes and I guarantee that you will be hooked :P

What a Joke......

As a life long Chicago Bears fan it's always fun to watch the Green Bay Packer's lose but even I have to admit they were screwed out of a win tonight.  The NFL needs to end this Referee lockout and bring back the real refs and kick these replacements ref's to the curb.  I counted at least 3 or 4 obvious missed calls that resulted in the outcome of this game and that is just unacceptable.  The horrible refereeing isn't just isolated to this one game its occurring in every single game and it just amazes me that the NFL has let it go on for 3 weeks and counting.  This is a multi-billion dollar sport we are talking about and they are fighting over a few million dollars and some benefits, that is pocket change for the NFL.  If Roger Goodell doesn't act fast and get the real ref's back on the field ASAP the NFL will suffer catastrophic fan backlash.  We are starting to see signs that this is starting and it will grow more and more each week before it hits the boiling point and causes a major hit to the NFL and its bank account.

Steve Young stated it best when he basically said the NFL doesn't care about the bad job the replacement ref's are doing because we are all sheep and will tune in each week regardless of the controversy.  This may be true but another week or 2 of such horribly obvious bad calls the fans will start to tune out and the NFL doesn't want that to happen.  The videos below are well worth watching and Steve Young really articulates the problems quite good one is from last week and the other was moments after the clusterfuck that occurred on Monday Night.

Don't Give a Shit ......

After our daughter Mackenzie passed away I sort of fell into a funk of not giving a shit about anything and I think I am still in that funk a year later.  I really don't know how to get out of this funk but something needs to happen like ASAP.  I think my anger for what happened has subdued but I just don't give a shit about even the littlest thing like where to go out to eat if we do go out.  Before Mackenzie passed away the things I didn't give a shit about were few and far between, I usually had a opinion about most things or at least acted like I was interested but not I just don't give a shit about pretty much anything.  I am not sure if this is depression or some other clinical diagnosis but I have come to the conclusion that something needs to change NOW.  I have pretty much stopped giving a shit about myself and I know my wife is suffering because of it and it hurts me to know I am causing her to stress/pain but what can I do?

Insomnia is a Bitch

I really wish someone was able to fix my sleeping habits and make them what is considered normal.  The last time I remember being able to sleep on a somewhat normal schedule was probably when I was 14 or 15.  Looking back I don't think there was some big event that triggered me not being able to sleep it just sort of happened and almost ruined my senior year.  I managed to make it through my junior year but the classes got much harder and the sleep was much less, putting me into that half awake half asleep state of mind.  Doctors tried to prescribe me sleep aids but nothing worked on a long term basis.  Ambien was good for a few days but my body adapted to it just like it did every other sleep aid i have tried, some work for a day or 2 and some don't work at all.

This is what I have been watching for the past 30 minutes :P

It really is amazing what you will do when your bored and can't sleep.  I think I am just destined to be like this for the rest of my life.  I won't list all of the pills, foods, drinks, and other remedies I have tried over the year but will ask you to comment with any remedies that may have worked for you and let's see if together we can come up with something that might work for me :P

Look who has a Blog

I probably should have started this blog a while ago but never got around to it, so i guess better late than never.  The plan is to try and move away from Facebook permanently and maybe this will be what finally does that for me.  I have tried numerous times to deactivate my FB but having so many family members using it, that just isn't a option unless I find another way to communicate with them since most won't join Google + :(  Hopefully I can figure out the in's and out's to blogging and open up a whole new world for me to conquer.  The first couple of months will be messing around with what works and what doesn't work so hang in there and I promise I won't disappoint :P  Some of my views you may not agree with and I encourage you to comment regardless if you agree or disagree.  Conversation about the issues is always a good thing and yes sometimes it will get heated but that's only because we are passionate people.

For those of you that aren't familiar with me or my "story" I will take a moment to briefly explain the main things you need to know about me.  I am 31 years old soon to be 32 in November and I am married to the most beautiful and wonderful woman in the world for almost 3 years now.  We have a miniature dachshund named Minnie and are expecting our 2nd child (Makayla) in a few weeks.  Our first child (Mackenzie) passed away a little over a year ago having spent only 8 days in this world :(  I'm a Photographer trying to save up to open my own studio hopefully sometime in 2013.  Well I think its time to finish up and work on customizing this blog and really make it POP :P
