RIP Opie :(

There are certain shows on television at any given time that I consider to be exceptional, sometimes its one or 2 and sometimes its more.  The past 10 years has produced quite a few real great quality shows and a few shows I would rank right up there with the best of all time.  A few of those great quality shows are Homeland, Game of Thrones, The Walking Dead, Justified, Boardwalk Empire, Treme, Louie, True Blood,  Dexter, Suits, Six Feet Under, and Rescue Me.  If I thought about it I could probably add quite a few more shows to that list and some of those shows may just make the jump to the best of all time list with a couple more high quality seasons.  The list of shows within the past 10 years I would rank right up there with the best of all time includes The Sopranos, The Wire, Breaking Bad, Mad Men, The West Wing, Friday Night Lights, and the show that inspired this post Sons of Anarchy.

Tonight's episode of Sons of Anarchy was one of the most intense episodes in the history of the show.  We are 3 episodes into season 5 and already its shaping up to be the best of the 5 seasons.  The main reason for this post was one scene in particular, where probably the most loved character of the series was murdered in quite gruesome fashion.  Off the top of my head I can only think of 2 other major character deaths in my lifetime that really hit me like this one did, the first when Dr Mark Greene on ER passed away and the other was when Rita on Dexter was found to have been murdered by the trinity killer.  Seeing Opie killed last night was really intense and quite frankly came out of nowhere but Kurt Sutter has proven time and time again everything has a reason for happening on this show and I can't wait to see where Samcro goes from here.  I can almost guarantee that Damian Pope will meet his maker probably at the hands of Jax, but the ultimate payoff for us fans will be to see Clay finally get what he deserves and Mr Sutter please don't let us down by keeping him alive like you did at the end of season 4.

If you aren't watching Sons of Anarchy than you really are missing out on one of the greatest television shows of all time.  For those of you that refuse to watch it because its about bikers, well the main story is about family and friendships, the biker stuff really is just filler.  If you have Netflix the first 3 seasons are available to stream and I encourage you to give it a legitimate shot which means watching 2-3 episodes and I guarantee that you will be hooked :P
